For the first time, Brazil and Germany celebrated a bilateral dialogue aimed at strengthening economic relations in the field of digitalisation, information and communication technologies. The German-Brazilian Digital Dialogue was held on March 16. It brought together high-level government representatives from both countries with experts and stakeholders from the industry.

The meeting was co-chaired by Stefan Schnorr, Director General for Digital Policy and Innovation at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), and José Gontijo, Deputy Secretary for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI). Both agreed on main areas of cooperation and the next steps to implement the initiative. The biannual Work Plan initially includes three areas of cooperation: internet governance and data policies, emerging technologies and digital business models and opportunities. It will be annually reviewed by the two sides. In this way, both partners ensure that the Work Plan within the scope of the German-Brazilian Digital Dialogue is adapted as needed and thus remains up to date.
